What are Sunday services like?
First Parish Sunday services typically include the following: music, time
set for the community to share joys and concerns, singing of hymns,
readings, and a sermon.
What should my children and I wear to this church?
Some people dress up and some people dress casually. Wear what feels
comfortable to you.
Is there child care/Sunday school during church?
Child care is available for younger children during services. During the
regular church year (September - June), there are religious education
classes on Sundays for children and youth.
If my child doesn't separate well, can my child stay with me during
the service?
Your child is always welcome to stay with you during the worship service.
Please be considerate of others if your child becomes restless. The service
is broadcast downstairs in Kendall Hall and there is also child care
provided in the light yellow Parish House up the hill to the left of the
church.
Are all people welcome in this congregation?
We strive to respect and welcome all people.
Are there people in the congregation who hold diverse beliefs?
Unitarian Universalists affirm a diversity of religious ideas and support
spiritual development guided by freedom, reason, and conscience. In
general UUs are very tolerant of others beliefs because we believe that
one's religious faith is a personal choice to be honored and respected.
How do I meet other people? How do I get involved?
Attend a service. You will be greeted at the door and can learn about small
group opportunities for education and spiritual growth. Stay for coffee and
conversation following the service. Give some thought to whether you prefer
to meet new people in social- or work-related activities; we offer plenty of
both options. For example, you can come to church potluck luncheons, enroll
in an adult religious education class, or join any number of committees to
work on specific projects that match your skills/interests. For more
