Caring Team
WHY HAVE A CARING TEAM? |
SERVICES WE PROVIDE |
|
The
purpose of the Caring Team is to nurture the sense of belonging
to and participation in a caring community. This means we share
each other's joys, concerns, milestones and celebrations with
expressions of comfort and support, remembrance and tribute, and
when we can, lend a helping hand. Needing each other and helping each other provides a sense of true community here at First Parish. This caring is not something that comes from a committee. Rather, it is something that comes from the hearts and hands of each individual in our congregation. So remember to reach out. The Caring Team pledges to build a caring community that will help and support each of our members as we experience the events stages and transitions of life. |
Sending cards, making
phone calls or visiting those needing support during difficult
times or in times of transition. Friends and members will be called upon to occasionally prepare and deliver a meal to others who are experiencing a personal crisis. Organizing a list of caregivers who can manage a household in an emergency (babysit, stay with an elderly person, help children get home from school, etc.) The Caring Team endeavors to match people with needs and those who can provide services. One of the ways we will help if we can is to provide medical equipment in an emergency situation... crutches, walker, wheelchair, cane, etc. To help increase our current inventory, if you have any medical supplies or equipment you no longer use, please consider donating it to the First Parish Caring Team. |

HOW CAN I HELP?The Caring Team functions through the efforts of many people. To offer help for other parishioners, call or email any of the Caring Team members listed at the bottom of this page and tell them what type of service you are most comfortable providing. The Caring Team meets monthly during the year and meetings are open to all members of First Parish. Please see your current newsletter for the date and time.
HOW CAN I RECEIVE HELP?If you want to ask about help for yourself or another parishioner, speak with or call a Caring Team member. Please don't hesitate to call! Often people don't ask for help themselves, feeling that they should struggle with their hardships alone. We are a caring community; let us help one another! We will always strive to balance offering assistance while respecting an individual's need for privacy. The Caring Team does not replace the pastoral work of the minister. instead, it compliments that work and increases the ability of our community to respond to individual needs. |
