Membership
Membership Requirements
Membership in First Parish Church is open to all who support the Principles and Practices of Unitarian Universalism, and who commit themselves to the six responsibilities of Membership, which are;
- Attend church regularly
- Work on your personal spiritual growth
- Serve on a task group
- Pledge at a responsible level
- Be involved in service to others
- Connect with the wider UU movement
UU Inquirers classes are held several times a year, and those considering membership are strongly encouraged to attend in order to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and First Parish Church. Dates and times of classes are published in the newsletter and noted in the Order of Service announcements. New members sign the membership book and are recognized at a regularly scheduled Sunday service approximately three times per year.
The Membership Committee of First Parish Church meets monthly and is charged with developing programs designed to increase the membership of First Parish. At least one member of the committee serves as a greeter each Sunday. If you are interested in learning more about membership, speak with a member of the Membership Committee or with our Minister. Current members of the committee are Jan Palmer-Tarbox, Marion Galvin, McKinley Jackson, and Gail Oberst.
New Members sign the Membership Book, June, 2008. |
